Data Scientist (Madrid)

The company: our customer is a German multinational called JUNGHEINRICH (JDS) that operates all over the world for more than 60 years and is one of the leading providers of Logistics industry. More than 18,000 employees and around 4.000 M€ revenue. They will hire the selected candidate as an internal and permanent employee, based in Madrid, but providing services to their global organization.


Description of the position:

As a Data Scientist, you will strengthen our Data Analytics team and take responsibility for a number of data-driven business cases in areas like condition monitoring, predictive maintenance or remote services.

Organizational position: Reporting to Head of Data Analytics.


Key Responsibilities and tasks:

  • You will work with IoT data and combine it with other data sources to gain actionable insights to increase our customers’ satisfaction.
  • You will be able to apply techniques like time series analysis, numerical optimization, operations research, causal inference or computer vision.
  • You will have the possibility to build end-to-end analytical solutions.
  • In case there is some data source not yet connected, you will work closely with our Data Engineers to make it available.
  • You will work with and communicate the results of your work to various stakeholders within our international Jungheinrich organization.


Working Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience as Data Scientist in consulting firms or corporates.


Professional skills:

Mandatory skills:

  • You are fluent in Python or R and their data science, AI and visualization libraries.
  • You have some experience working with big data analytics solutions, like Azure Databricks, or are eager to learn it.

Nice to have skills:

  • You like or are willing to learn using supporting tools and methods like Git, DevOps, Jira and Confluence.
  • You have some experience in using frontend visualization tools, like PowerBI, or are able to create them with, e.g., Streamlit or Shiny.

Personal skills:

  • You enjoy working in a team.
  • You are an analytical problem solver.
  • You communicate confidently at all hierarchical levels.

Education and Training:

  • University Degree/Bachelors’ Degree: engineering, computer science, statistics, econometrics, or a related field. 


  • English: Very good Business English required (excellent communication skills). B2/C1 level.
  • German & Spanish: Would be valuable for the position, but not required at all.

Job Conditions:

Job location: Madrid. European Union nationality otherwise EU/Spain work permit required as a prerequisite.

Expected travel: Very limited, just a 2-3 days trip a few times per year, only during the weekdays, to the global headquarters in Hamburg (Germany) for teaming and alignment.

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time, as internal employee.

Salary: Depending on experience.
