Senior JAVA embedded Developer

Purpose of the function:

Part of a Research & Development team based in Madrid who will be responsible to develop and maintain the embedded SW of an Access Control and Time Management terminal.

We are looking for a passionate Java Embedded Developer who thrives the further development and maintenance of existing devices for Access Control and Time Management. Are you curious and passionate about working in a constantly evolving and challenging international environment?

Key Responsibilities and tasks:

• Development and maintenance of Firmware for existing Devices for Access Control and Time
• Development of hardware-related drivers for Linux (C, C++).
• Development of Applications in Java for Linux (and Android based Systems [nice-to-have]).
• Development and Maintenance of OS-Images (Linux [must], Android [nice-to-have]).
• Self-dependent bug-analysis and -fixing.
• Production introduction of new versions (in collaboration with local team).
• Collaboration on design, development and architecture to test existing and future systems automatically.
• Technical Support of Testing, Hotline, Training and Documentation.
• Self-dependent design and implementation of software components.
• Engineering of software development processes and software design.
• Modelling and documentation of software features/components.

Working Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in developing and maintaining Embedded (hardware-related) Firmware.
• Broad knowledge of programming languages Java, C and C++.
• Familiar with development frameworks Eclipse (and Android Studio [nice-to-have]).
• Familiar with distributed version control systems (e.g. Subversion, GIT).
• You have experience working in Scrum/Agile teams.

Additional experience non-mandatory, but valuable for the position:
• Experience working with JIRA/Confluence.
• Experience working with DevOps tool-chains.
• Experience on automated testing.

Education and Training:
• University degree or equivalent on Technical College or relevant related experience.

• English: Very good Business English required (at least B2).
• German: Desirable but not a must.
• Spanish: Native language, otherwise business fluent.

Organizational position: Reporting to the R&D Manager (placed in Madrid)

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time.

Salary: Depending on experience.
