VMware Systems Engineer (Madrid)
The company: our customer is a German multinational called JUNGHEINRICH (JDS) that operates all over the world for more than 60 years and is one of the leading providers of Logistics industry. More than 18,000 employees and around 4.000 M€ revenue. They will hire the selected candidate as an internal and permanent employee, based in Madrid, but providing services to their global organization.
Description of the position:
To foster our growth at our research and development site in the city centre of Madrid, we are looking for a VMware Systems Engineer in a permanent, full-time position.
Organizational position: Reporting to the Cloud Software Services Lead (located in Hamburg).
Key Responsibilities and tasks:
- You will be responsible for the operation and the further development of our VMware environment, which spans several data centers and which might also include the cooperation in international projects.
- You are in charge of our ESXi servers and the vSAN solution with currently 5 Peta Bytes storage volume and you will push forward the automation in our ESXi environment.
- You will evaluate innovations in the VMware environment and introduce & integrate the use of additional technologies at the company (such as VMware NSX).
- You are involved in the conception and implementation of monitoring and reporting solutions
- Last but not least we expect you to take care of the security of the VMware environment.
Working Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience with VMWare solutions in corporate environments.
Professional skills:
Mandatory skills:
- High Practical experience in operating larger VMware environments incl. good knowledge of VMware core technologies (vSphere, vSAN), VMware tools (vRealize Operations, Log Insight), automation platforms and scripting languages (e.g. Ansible and Python) as well as server hardware.
Nice to have skills:
- VMware certifications.
- Experience on AWS or Azure.
- Experience with Supermicro or HPE hardware.
- Experience with Windows or Linux.
Personal skills:
- Very good English in writing and oral communications.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duty.
- A strong sense of responsibility and a transparent.
- Good communication skills and service orientation.
- Distinct ability to work in a team.
- Willingness to work in an international team.
- Ability to travel if needed.
Education and Training:
- BSc or Master in Computer Sciences or an equivalent work experience.
Languages:
- English: Very good Business English required (excellent communication skills). B2/C1 level.
- Spanish: Business fluent, at least B2 level.
Job Conditions:
Job location: Madrid. European Union nationality otherwise EU/Spain work permit required as a prerequisite.
Expected travel: Not regularly, just some trip when needed, possibly to Hamburg once in a while.
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time, as internal employee.
Salary: Depending on experience.
